About EHang
EHang is the furthest ahead commercially of any eVTOL company, by a wide margin. The EH216-S is a two-seat autonomous multirotor with no pilot and no manual controls: passengers board, the route is pre-programmed, and a ground command centre supervises.
EHang holds the world’s first eVTOL type certificate, granted by the CAAC in October 2023, followed by a production certificate in April 2024 and an air operator certificate on 28 March 2025. That trio is what legally permits paying passengers, and no Western programme has yet matched it. Commercial sightseeing operations run in Guangzhou, Hefei, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wenzhou.
The caveats matter. Flights are short fixed-route sightseeing hops rather than point-to-point transport, revenue remains modest at RMB 26.1 million in the first quarter of 2025, and a light-aircraft crash near Beijing in July 2026 prompted a broader tightening of Chinese low-altitude approvals. EASA and FAA validation are at an early stage.
